Summer is in full swing now, and yarnie/fibery/textile things are happening here at Folklore Fiber! Namely, I’ll be joining HeartBrain Wisconsin at the Hudson Pride Festival tomorrow (that’s 22. June. 2024) to connect with folx and share Folklore Fiber Yarns and more here in Wisconsin!

It’s so exciting to be here, and HeartBrain’s owner, Nik, is a dear friend from grad school. We have not seen each other in–we did the math–approximately thirteen years! So to connect and create and come together for Pride 2024 in Hudson has been an amazing opportunity and gift from the universe. So, for now, I’m focused on the present moment and grateful for the friendship and good company. But, even still, I’m planning for a pretty exciting month ahead here with Folklore Fiber.
Be prepared for some major stock updates as well as some new tutorials, projects, and patterns! I’m so excited to be teaching out in the Colorado Springs Community, as well as traveling to festivals, markets, and other places with my yarn and fiber goodies. I’ll be posting more about these adventures, as well as details of where to find me and how to join classes either in-person or online.
Coming soon in July, we’ll have more yarn, more fiber, and more knitting and needlework items and accessories. Plus, I’m excited to share that we’re launching a newsletter and a YouTube channel that will offer tips, tricks, and techniques to fuel your fiber and needlework crafting obsessions.
Casting on new projects and stumped on a technique? Curious to explore embroidery or counted cross stitch? Want to see my fabric-dyeing process? As we launch a new concept of community and instruction, I’d love to hear what you are hoping to see. I want to create tutorials, projects, and patterns that are accessible, easy to follow, and cover everything from the basics to beyond. Your input is welcome! You can email folklorefiber@gmail.com or pop over to the Contact Us page to be in touch with your ideas and suggestions.
So, with all that said–Happy Litha! As we celebrate the longest day of the year with Summer Solstice, I’m considering what this means metaphorically for my practice as well as Folklore Fiber endeavors. We celebrate the sun and the summer season, ripe with fruits and flowers, rich with summer crop growth and the turning of the wheel through the summer season.

Litha is a time to celebrate the sun’s power and ability to sustain life, as well as taking pause to notice the Turning of the Wheel and the nature of seasons changing. It’s also a time to celebrate abundance, growth, and positive energy–and this is really inspiring and informing my personal work and passion to create and share my passion and purpose with all of you.
So, casting my good wishes and positive energies out there to all of you. Perhaps you’ll rise to greet the sun, dance under the Full Moon that is upon us, and celebrate with a Summer Solstice bonfire or yummy feast. Are you planning to celebrate Litha/Summer Solstice? Do you have any summer projects you’d like to share? You can tag me on Instagram @folklore_fiber to share your summer projects, I’d love to see your inspirational creativity.
I’m still working to finish the eternal wips: the green sweater and the baby blanket. But I’m also casting on some new wips and creating some patterns I hope to test and launch sometime this summer. I’ll be sharing the process and progress on these projects–and until next time: Happy Crafting and Creating to all of you out there!
